Sussex Police

‘StreetSafe’ campaign

Focusing on making the streets of Chichester, Crawley, and Hastings safer for young people (particularly young women and girls), Sussex Police wanted to encourage local residents to engage with their latest initiative ‘StreetSafe’ to understand which areas of Sussex were deemed to be unsafe through anonymous reporting.

how did we
do it?

In a bid to launch their new ‘StreetSafe’ campaign, Sussex Police reached out to our digital marketing creatives, looking for a strong, proven track-record of producing high-quality end-to-end video production services and paid advertising campaigns.

In order to reach-out and engage with the public, Sussex Police challenged cobolt’s creative minds to develop a full-scale advertising campaign to target areas that were most likely to be reported under the initiative.

Starting with idea generation and storyboarding, our digital marketing and videography creatives collaborated with Sussex Police to generate a provocative video campaign, designed to inspire the public to take action and report any areas where they felt unsafe. From here, cobolt handled the entire production process to create this hard-hitting, emotive campaign, which focused on highlighting the emotional impact of feeling unsafe on Sussex’s streets and how engaging with the ‘StreetSafe’ initiative could help.

With nearly 396,000 impressions, over 2,000 clicks from Meta and Snapchat, and a 1,300% rise in reports obtained via the ‘StreetSafe’ initiative over the campaign’s thirty-day lifespan, both Sussex Police and cobolt regarded the project a veritable success.

There is a monthly [record] of reports received via Streetsafe on the website. In February, there were 8. In April there were 100! So that's a percentage leap of 1,300!! We accounted for 13.2% of all reports nationally.

It was really apparent that the team had a vested interest in this particular campaign and that they wanted to work with us to help us raise awareness of Streetsafe and keep women and girls in Sussex safe while out in our public spaces.

story

Our folks love their jobs and they want to make a difference. They get just as excited about the results as you would (maybe a little bit more sometimes). You didn’t build your business just to see it flop. You don’t turn up to work every day to get mediocre results. And neither do we.

From start to finish, it was an absolute delight to work with the team. The creative design and targeted delivery brought about real tangible results in a very short space of time. Thank you for helping us make that difference!
